‘Bluebird’ protesters sail on Paris’ Seine River

2024-06-10

The Bluebird Movement has gone global. On June 4, demonstrators fighting the legislature’s attempts to expand its powers rented the LED display at Times Square in New York. More recently, Bluebird protesters packed onto a boat sailing the Seine.

Nearly 100 people flew Taiwanese flags and shouted “Team Taiwan” as they greeted passersby from the deck. Even bubble tea and braised pork rice made an appearance. The boat departed from the birthplace of the French Revolution at the Place de la Bastille, and sailed past landmarks including the Louvre and Notre Dame, conveying Taiwan’s democratic values along the way.
