Adoption event to be held in December for 20kg raccoon found in Taoyuan

A massive raccoon weighing 20kg was found late last month in Taoyuan’s Bade District. Authorities suspect the animal was abandoned by its owner, who has not come forward to claim him. The holding period, which started when the raccoon was brought in, has expired. Since no owner has come to claim him, we are planning on arranging an adoption event in December. It’ll just be pets that aren’t cats or dogs. We will first screen adoption candidates. It won’t just be open to anyone.
A local in Taoyuan had found the raccoon near a field in Bade District, and took the animal home. They found that he would refuse to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, but greatly enjoyed chocolate. Authorities say raccoon owners must make sure to give their pets a proper diet, avoiding overly sugary foods that may negatively impact the animal’s health.

重達20公斤浣熊被撿到 送交動保處至今無人來認領

桃園八德區日前有民眾，撿到一隻北美浣熊，體型巨大、重達20公斤，桃園市動保處表示，如果一直沒有飼主認領，預計在年底會辦理＂特殊寵物＂認養。

“浣熊帶回來之後，大概牠的公告期也滿了，那沒有飼主來領回，那這個部分的話，我們後續可能在12月份會安排，我們所謂非犬貓的這個，這個特殊寵物的一個認領養活動，對於這個飼主我們要經過一個篩選，並不是說誰都可以來認領養。”
這隻公北美浣熊10月底時，在桃園八德區田邊，被民眾發現，暫時帶回家照顧。發現牠很大隻，而且不愛吃蔬果，只愛吃巧克力。動保處表示，想認養一定要了解浣熊的習性，也提醒，不要餵食巧克力，因為怕含糖量過高的零嘴，會對牠們造成傷害。
