Taiwan braces for ‘biggest spring rain’ of the year

2023-04-19

Three straight days of rain are in the forecast, with the heaviest downpours to hit tomorrow. People in central and southern Taiwan could be in for more than 200 millimeters of rainfall, which might just be Taiwan’s biggest spring shower of the year so far.

It’s set to give a much-needed boost to the drought-stricken south, which hasn’t seen significant rain in more than 600 days. The Central Weather Bureau warns of possible flooding in the western half of the island. Those of you in mountainous regions of central and southern Taiwan are advised to be on high alert for landslides and mudslides.
