Tsai receives Japan Innovation Party delegation

The leader of Japan’s second largest opposition party, the Japan Innovation Party, is in Taiwan. Party head Baba Nobuyuki and his delegation met with President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday. During the reception, President Tsai thanked the Japan Innovation Party for donating 10 million yen in 2018, to help Taiwan recover from a Hualien earthquake. She also thanked the party for speaking up for Taiwan in Japan’s parliament.

Additionally, Tsai thanked Japan for donating 4.2 million COVID vaccine doses to Taiwan during the worst of the pandemic. She expressed hope that Taiwan and Japan would continue their friendship and their joint efforts to promote regional economic development. Baba opened a press conference later on, to reiterate his party’s commitment to stronger Japan-Taiwan ties. He said his party would do everything in its power to support Taiwan’s future development.

日本第二大在野黨"維新會"訪台,總統蔡英文接見黨代表、眾議員馬場伸幸,致詞時特別感謝維新會,在日本國會多次替台灣發聲,支持台灣參加國際組織。

總統也感謝維新會在2018年花蓮大地震,捐助1000萬日圓;疫情期間日本提供台灣420萬劑疫苗,希望未來持續深化台日友好關係,促進區域經濟發展。之後,馬場伸幸等議員開記者會,重申促進台日友好關係,未來維新會也會盡最大心力,協助台灣在更多領域取得進一步發展。
