
Originally from Chengdu, China, Shao Limei now lives with her husband in his hometown of Donggang in Pingtung. Although they originally worked in the tech industry, they returned to Donggang to take over his parents’ fishing business. Shao soon started learning about all the different kinds of fish. Now an expert, she leads tours introducing the culture of this famous port.
Originally from Chengdu, Shao Limei leads tourists around the Donggang fish market. Her husband Lin Wen-feng grew up here and they returned together five years ago. Shao started leading these tours not only to satisfy her own intellectual curiosity, but also to give tourists the chance to see the fishing industry with their own eyes.

I talk about tuna the most. Most people think there is only one kind of tuna, but there are actually lots! At Donggang there are three main kinds: bigeye, yellowfin and black tuna. People think that the tuna used in sushi is always the same, but that’s not the case.
In addition to giving tours of the port, they also cooperate with local groups to organize cultural tours of fishing villages.

Donggang is already famous for its seafood, but no one is really offering these kinds of tours. I find it really moving how people are genuinely interested in this port’s culture. It makes the work meaningful.
Shao and Lin used to be managers in the tech industry, but became business owners when they returned to Donggang. Originally intending to start a retail delivery service, they unexpectedly entered the souvenir market. They renovated their store to make it stylish and redesigned the branding and packaging, gaining recognition from many public departments.

Every store in Donggang sells fresh products, so how can you get more people to see you or buy your products for gifts to increase their value? On the one hand, I feel more pressure and want to do even better, but on the other hand, I think we should continue to pursue this path.
Love inspired Shao to forgo her previous path and start a new life with her husband in Taiwan. Love also transformed her from someone without confidence into a woman sure of herself. In her new hometown of Donggang, she is writing the next exciting chapter of her life.

來自四川成都的邵莉梅,與曾經在高科技大廠任職的先生回到故鄉屏東東港,接手父母親的漁產批發事業,邵莉梅從完全不懂魚的種類開始慢慢學起,到現在不但能夠如數家珍,還成為在地導覽漁港文化的年輕力量。
帶著遊客認識魚市場的,是來自四川成都的邵莉梅,五年前她和先生林文豐回到故鄉屏東東港創業,會想要做漁業導覽,除了滿足自己的求知欲,更多時候是因為遇到消費者,舉手發問的問題都一樣,不如就帶著他們眼見為憑。

“解釋最多的是鮪魚,大家會以為鮪魚就是指單一品種,牠其實也是分非常多種,但是東港最常見的是三種,大目鮪魚、黃鰭鮪魚,然後還有黑鮪魚,但是可能大家在印象中,都是覺得鮪魚生魚片就是一種,不是這樣子的。”
除了導覽東港的漁業文化,他們也和東港的地方創生團體,共同合作推出一系列的漁村文化旅遊。

“可能大家對東港的印象,海鮮已經非常有名,但是可能在做這種導覽的體驗是少。其實讓我最感動的是,他們都會原來對這個漁港文化這麼感興趣,就讓我覺得,原來做這個事情還蠻有意義的。”
其實邵莉梅和林文豐過去都是高科技產業的主管,遊子返鄉回到東港改做生意。原本想做零售宅配,卻意外踏入伴手禮市場,不只將店面改造得具有時尚感,也重新設計品牌視覺,還有伴手禮包裝,更獲得許多公部門的創意行銷計畫肯定。

“每家每戶東港的產品都是新鮮的,你怎麼可以讓更多人看到你,或者是可以拿去送禮,增加它的附加價值。一方面是覺得壓力會更大,想要做得更好,另一方面也覺得,之前這條路應該是可以堅持下去,繼續做。”
因為愛,讓邵莉梅願意放棄原本順遂的人生,與先生來臺灣從零開始。也因為愛,當年極度沒有自信的她,脫胎換骨,找到自己的定位。在屏東東港這個新故鄉,為自己的人生,寫下各種精彩。
