The military holds an expo in Taipei to show off equipment and speak with recruits

2024-11-10

The 2024 Taiwan Military Outdoor Airsoft Exhibition, also known as the MOA Expo, was held to great fanfare over the weekend. Local and foreign manufacturers set up 280 booths at the Taipei event, and military recruiters were on hand to speak with people interested in a military career. Different branches of the military showed off their hardware, and the Navy’s highly-trained frogmen dazzled the crowd with their display.

At the MOA expo, the Army’s Special Forces Command made an appearance. Dressed in full military fatigues, wearing tactical helmets and holding T91 combat rifles, the command was a highlight of the event. Shouting spirited slogans, they became the focus of the crowd.

It’s so cool. On YouTube there are some videos of the frogmen that I like to watch sometimes.

All these guys in the Army are so energetic and professional. It’s unimaginable for our generation.

The 2024 MOA Expo drew in both domestic and foreign manufacturers. A total of 280 booths were set up this year – double the number at last year’s expo – and about one-third of those were foreign manufacturers. Army recruiters were also on hand, hoping to speak with talented potential recruits.

Air Force recruiters have brought to the venue R550 Magic 2 missiles to attract the attention of the crowd. These missiles are normally mounted on the Mirage 2000 fighter jets.

The Air Force also displayed Oerlikon GDF 35 fast guns, and the Military Police Command showed off two of its 1.8L Indian Challenger motorcycles. Meanwhile, the NGO Taiwan Stands with Ukraine also had a stall at the expo where it was selling Ukrainian military armbands, clothing, souvenirs and other items to raise money for Ukraine.

We are raising the funds for Ukraine, for Ukrainian people. You could see we are raising the funds for the military purposes. We are also raising the funds for humanitarian causes.

Amid the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, conflicts in the Middle East, and continued threats from China in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea, the MOA Expo is a reminder of the importance of a strong Taiwanese military.
