Two Taiwanese missing after helicopter loses contact in Japan

A trip to a popular volcano in Japan went horribly wrong on Tuesday morning. A sightseeing helicopter with two Taiwanese travelers and a Japanese pilot was reported missing at around 11 in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture. The aircraft had been on a tour of the crater of Mount Aso.

According to a report by Kumamoto Asashi Broadcasting, the wreckage of a helicopter was found later in the day, during an aerial search operation conducted by the Kumamoto Prefectural Police. The identification number on the wreck was confirmed to be the helicopter that lost contact that morning. The fate of the two Taiwanese nationals and the pilot in his 60s remains unknown.

日本熊本縣阿蘇山一帶,今天(20日)上午11點左右傳出,一架繞行火山口的觀光直升機失聯,機上除了1名60多歲的日籍駕駛外,還載有2名台灣籍一男一女的旅客。

根據熊本朝日放送報導,熊本縣警察在阿蘇上空搜索時,已發現失聯直升機的殘骸。而且從機體編號,已確定是失聯的直升機。然而,一名機師和兩名台灣人仍然生死未卜。
