Heart of Tainan’s new railway project is finally unveiled

Tainan’s underground railway system has a new look! The underground stations are finally unveiled. We’ll give you a sneak peak at the heart of the station, the central control room, as well as the electromechanical and ventilation equipment that won’t be visible once the station opens! Let’s hear more.

Stepping into the brand new underground station of Tainan’s Railway system, the first thing that catches the eye is the well-lit, spacious passenger hall. Although the passageway gates are covered, they are equipped with the latest technology from the Taiwan Railway.

Passenger information viewing system and ticket verification gates are the latest generation, capable of handling all payment conditions.

Entering the central control room, there is a comprehensive system that combines vehicle monitoring, electromechanical equipment and various safety and disaster prevention systems.

All of the station’s life support systems as well as the tunnel monitoring systems including ventilation and fire protection are connected to the central control room.

Similarly, the electromechanical passageway, which is not open to passengers, has large exhaust fans and smoke extraction rooms that control the tunnel’s ventilation. As for the platform level below, there is a different view of the underground tracks compared to the surface tracks.

This is Tainan’s TR platform after upgrades. The most distinctive feature you can see is that the tracks, which were originally of gravel, have been replaced with slab tracks without ballast.

Taiwan Railway plans to switch tracks and construct temporary walkways overnight after the last train on the 17. They will do this to connect the existing station with the new underground station. Then, the public will finally be able to see the brand-new underground station and visit the shops that will have opened by that time as well.

南鐵地下化第一階段通車在即! "車站心臟"首度開箱

台南鐵路地下化第一階段通車在即，地下車站首度開箱。其中堪稱是車站心臟的中央控制室，還有開站後也看不到的機電、通風設備，我們帶您先睹為快！

走進台鐵鐵路地下化的台南地下新站，先映入眼簾的，是寬敞明亮的旅客大廳與通道，通道閘門雖然還包裝著，不過可是台鐵最新，第四代的設備進駐。

來到中央控制室，裡頭包括行車監控、機電設備、安全防災各種系統整合，都在其中。

“車站的所有維生系統，還有隧道的包括通風，消防的這些監控，全部連結到我們的中央監控室的系統”

同樣也是旅客看不到的機電通道，裡頭就有掌控隧道通風的大型抽風機和排煙室。至於再往下的月台層，就有地下軌道跟地面軌道截然不同的景色。

“這就是台南市鐵路下化之後的月台，您可以看到最大的特色就是，原本記憶中都是碎石子的軌道，已經全都換成了無渣式的板式軌道”

台鐵預計在17號末班車收班後，將連夜進行軌道切換，以及臨時棧道施工，銜接原有車站和新地下車站。屆時民眾就可以看見，嶄新的地下車站的全貌，進駐的商店品牌也會同步開張，等著民眾來體驗。
