Gem-faced civet family crosses Miaoli main road

An adorable family of animals were recently seen crossing a road in Toufen, Miaoli. People thought they were cats, but it was actually a group of gem-faced civets! Miaoli’s Agriculture Department said it’s not uncommon to see civets in the city, but people shouldn’t touch, feed, frighten, or chase them, and they should report it to local animal authorities.

The mother civet leads her three pups across the road, but the constant traffic scares them back to the grass on the median.

Eventually, they safely made it across. People were surprised to see gem-faced civets crossing the road in Toufen, Miaoli.

Miaoli’s Agriculture Department said gem-faced civets are nocturnal and their population has been rising in recent years, so it’s not uncommon to see them in the city.

「白鼻心家族」苗栗大街過馬路　縣府：不接觸不餵食、通報調查

苗栗頭份有民眾在大街上目擊一群動物過馬路，原本以為是貓咪家族，仔細看才發現竟然是白鼻心家族，但路上車來車往，也讓大小隻的白鼻心嚇得往草叢裡面躲藏。縣府農業處表示，白鼻心出現在都市不算罕見，建議民眾不接觸、不餵食，不驚嚇追趕，通報主管機關調查。

什麼動物家族出現在大馬路上，是貓還是狐狸，仔細看是白鼻心。

一隻白鼻心媽媽帶著3隻小白鼻心逛大街過馬路，但聽到可怕的車流聲，全家又躲回草叢縮回去。

但最後還是順利過馬路到對面去了，苗栗頭份有民眾在馬路上發現白鼻心家族出沒，相當驚喜。

"基本上一般來講，很少看到。活那麼大，從來沒看過。"

"其實看起來都是晚上出來，我覺得有時候用路人或開車，可能會比較危險一點，覺得應該相關單位要做些處理。"

縣府農業處表示，白鼻心屬於夜行性動物，近年來族群的數量越來越多，出現在都市不算罕見。

發現白鼻心，不接觸、不餵食，可以通報主管機關調查，才能讓這些野生動物在都市與人類共處生活。
