Charity calls on public to help raise funds for homeless people

Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon. The Zenan Homeless Social Welfare Foundation, a charity, plans to distribute gift bags to over 6,500 people in need across Taiwan next month. How can you help? Here’s FTV reporter Stephany Yang with the details.

Actor Marcus Chang shows just what is inside these Mid-Autumn Festival gift bags. They will be given to homeless people over Mid-Autumn Festival next month. Chang is encouraging the public to support the Zenan Homeless Social Welfare Foundation’s charity drive to help people in need.

You can help the disadvantaged celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and find a job at the same time. Inside the bag are pomelos for the Mid-Autumn Festival, moon cakes, and masks. There are some toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap, as well as alcohol wipes, razors, towels, and grooming tools.

This year the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sept. 10. Then, the Zenan Homeless Social Welfare Foundation plans to distribute gift bags consisting of moon cakes, pomelos and other festive gifts to 6,500 people across Taiwan. The foundation says numbers of people employed decreased drastically due to the pandemic.

In the past two years of the epidemic, we found that it became more and more difficult for them to find employment. About 20% of them lost their jobs due to the epidemic. This year, we will choose 24 stations across Taiwan to distribute our employment gift packages. So far, we have only raised about 20% of our goal. In fact, it is quite a crisis. We only have half a month left before the event.

Organizers are calling on the public to donate so that everyone can enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival.

發放中秋就業包人安基金會祝寒士

9月10就是中秋節了，人安基金會將在下個月向全台6500多名需要幫助的寒士發放中秋就業包，一起來看看，我們能夠為他們做些甚麼。

藝人張立昂現場開箱，細數中秋就業包裡的物品，下個月就要過中秋了，人安基金會準備把這個就業包分送給寒士，呼籲民眾能夠踴躍支持活動，幫助有需要的人。

"可以幫助寒士們能夠開心的慶祝中秋節，同時也可以找到工作。裡面有中秋節的柚子、月餅，還有口罩，還有一些盥洗的用品，包括牙刷、牙膏，然後香皂、酒精擦、刮鬍刀、毛巾、修容組"

9/10就是中秋了，人安基金會打算發出6500個就業包，還附上月餅、柚子等應景禮品。基金會表示，受到疫情影響，許多寒士面臨失業。

“這兩年的疫情，我們發現在寒士就業是越來越困難，甚至有兩成的寒士朋友因為疫情失去工作。今年的話我們會是在全台24個平安站，選擇比較適當的地點，去做我們的就業包的發放。這次的募集到現在為止大概只募到兩成，其實還蠻危險的，我們大概離活動的時間上只剩下半個月的時間”

基金會呼籲公眾踴躍捐款，將溫暖散佈到每一個角落。
