Taiwan Plus Life Festival to be held in Tokyo

After a three year hiatus, the Taiwan Plus Life Festival will be held in Tokyo on Sept. 17 and 18. A total of 70 Taiwanese brands and performers will travel to Tokyo to showcase their works. FTV reporter Stephany Yang takes us in to see the highlights.

After a three year hiatus, the 2022 Taiwan Plus Life Festival will kick off again on Sept. 17 and 18 in Tokyo. Over 70 Taiwanese brands will take part, bringing traditional Taiwanese arts and performances to Japan.

The theme is based on auspicious days in Taiwan. It’s phonetically the same as Japan’s Taian – one of six special days in the Japanese lunar calendar. It similarly symbolizes a good omen. It also represents the good wishes that Japan and Taiwan have for the people of each other’s country. I sincerely hope that the pandemic will end soon, so that we can welcome more mutual visits and exchanges.

At the press conference of the event, Akira Yokochi, the deputy representative of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, delivered a speech in Taiwanese. He said that the pandemic had not stopped Taiwan and Japan from engaging in closer exchanges.

Over the past two and a half years, although exchanges between Japan and Taiwan have been restricted, we have been challenged to support each other and work together to make our relationship closer.

Through the event, organizers hope to boost post-pandemic exchanges between Taiwan and Japan.

睽違三年，「Taiwan Plus生活節」將於9月17日至18日在東京舉行。共有70個台灣品牌和表演者將前往東京展示他們的作品。一起來看看。

穿著原住民服裝，歌手舒米恩，唱出悠揚嗓音，為即將在日本東京舉辦的「Taiwan Plus生活節」，拉開序幕。

為了讓世界透過文化亮點，看見台灣，文總將在9月17日、9月18日前往日本東京，超過70組的台灣品牌團隊，帶來流行音樂、傳統藝術和展演等，和日本交流。

"(主題)「台灣吉日」的意思，跟日本曆法裡的大安吉日的讀音，是一樣的象徵好預兆，也代表著台日雙方，對人民彼此的祝福，衷心期盼疫情趕快過去，迎向更多的互訪交流的好日子。"

日台交流協會副代表橫地晃也出席，還全程以台語致詞。他提到台日往來，雖然受到疫情影響，但卻讓台日關係，變得更緊密

"這兩年半，雖然日台之間的往來受到限制，但是我們在挑戰之下，互相的扶植一起打拼，讓彼此的感情變得更緊密。"
