Consumer price index up by 2.66% in August from previous year

2022-09-06

Inflation slowed down in August, according to the latest government statistics. The consumer price index went up by 2.66% from a year before, dropping below 3% for the first time in six months. On average, the CPI went up by 3.1% in the first half of the year compared with the first half of 2021.

The government says the main cause for the rise in consumer prices is high prices for fruits, dining out, meats, eggs, fuel, rent and household items. Officials say lower prices for vegetables and communication technologies offset the rise somewhat.
