Taiwan ranks 8th at Chengdu Universiade

The Chengdu Universiade has come to an end, with Taiwan winning 46 medals to rank eighth in the world. Taiwan’s medal haul came out to 10 golds, 17 silvers, and 19 bronzes. That’s Taiwan’s second-best showing at the World University Games, coming after the 2017 event in Taipei.

This year, the superstar was the national tennis team, which bagged five golds. The badminton team also excelled, taking gold in mixed doubles and mixed team. In gymnastics, Lee Chih-kai won men’s pommel horse for the third time in a row. Taiwan’s first gold at the games came from martial artist Johnny Sun. In the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Peng Ming-yang won gold and shattered Taiwan’s national record for the event. Swimmers Wang Hsing-hao and Eddie Wang brought home silvers.

世大運週二閉幕,台灣代表團本屆一共獲得10金、17銀、19銅,一共46面獎牌,在120個參賽國中位居第8名,也創下除了2017年台北世大運之外,「境外世大運」的最佳成績。

網球代表隊是這次台灣隊大金庫,狂奪5面金牌。羽球分別在混雙、羽球混合團體奪金。體操方面,鞍馬王子李智凱三連霸。還有武術由孫家閎拿下太極拳金牌。過去台灣隊難以突破的體育大項,迎來歷史級佳績,彭名揚在田徑400公尺跨欄摘金牌。游泳王星皓200公尺混合式、王冠閎200公尺蝶式,雙雙為台灣摘銀。
