Terry Gou submits 1.03 million signatures on nomination by petition deadline

The deadline has closed for nominations by petition in the presidential election. Prospective candidates must have submitted over 289,000 signatures by Thursday. The Central Election Commission will count the signatures and announce the results by Nov. 14.

There are 10 sets of candidates seeking nomination. Hon Hai founder Terry Gou and running mate Tammy Lai are believed to be the most likely to make the ballot. On Thursday, the pair submitted just over 1.03 million signatures. Gou’s campaign office issued a statement, thanking the public for its support. It said that every signature was an affirmation of Gou’s campaign and a source of motivation.

11月2日是總統副總統連署截止日期,門檻是28萬9千多份,一個選民若同時幫多位被連署人連署,中選會要在14日之前公布結果。

10組被連署人中,最有可能突破門檻的是鴻海創辦人郭台銘。郭台銘、賴佩霞2日總計送交103萬6778份連署書,但實際有效份數有多少,還要等中選會篩選過後才能確定。郭台銘競選辦公室表示,感謝民眾的踴躍連署,每一張連署書都是對郭賴配的肯定與期待,也是對郭賴配的鞭策。
