Safeguarding Taiwan is top priority: House committee chair

The U.S. House Select Committee on the CCP has a new chair. Representative John Moolenaar took office on Tuesday, marking the appointment with a recorded speech. In a three-minute video, he listed his top priorities as committee chair. They include preventing CCP aggression against Taiwan.

…from the Pacific coast of California to the industrial centers in my home state of Michigan, I’ve witnessed the CCP’s near-constant efforts to undermine America’s core values and sovereignty. We will work tirelessly to deter CCP military aggression against Taiwan and our allies in the Indo-Pacific. We will work to prevent the CCP from stealing our technology, co-opting businesses and harassing people on American soil.
The video included a moment from Moolenaar’s recent visit to Taiwan when he met President Tsai Ing-wen. Also on Tuesday, Moolenaar was published on the Fox News website. He wrote an opinion piece titled "Five Chinese Threats America Cannot Ignore." He said the U.S. should focus on "safeguarding Taiwan and America’s allies," by expanding training programs for Taiwan and eliminating delays to arms sales.

美國眾院"美國與中國共產黨戰略競爭特別委員會"主席穆理納，昨天走馬上任，他也透過影片與投書齊發，表示自己的首要任務，就是阻止北京對台灣及盟友的軍事侵略。

“從加州太平洋海岸，到我家鄉密西根州的工業中心，我親眼目睹中共幾乎一直在努力，破壞美國的核心價值和主權，我們將努力不懈，阻止中共對台灣和印太盟國的軍事侵略，我們將努力阻止中共竊取技術，在美國領土上拉攏生意並騷擾他人”
近三分鐘的影片包含穆理納日前訪台時，與蔡英文總統會面的畫面。而除了影片，穆理納也以「美國不能忽視的5個中國威脅」為題，投書福斯新聞，表示美國必須集中精力，維護台灣及美國的盟友，並培訓台灣軍隊，移除軍售拖延的障礙等。
