Taitung eatery serves up delicious snacks from Harbin in northeast China

An eatery in Taitung is serving up delicious snacks from Harbin in Northeast China. From the “Meat Egg Burgers” to the thin patties bursting with aromatic chives, these delectable savory bites are a big hit with locals. It’s the taste of home for restaurant owner Ms. Kung, who moved to Taiwan 12 years ago.

Oil sizzles on the griddle as batter is poured in. Pork mince is added, and the little patties need to be constantly flipped with a knife and fork.

When they’re cut open, the thick patties reveal their juicy, meaty filling. But these are not a glutton’s version of imagawayaki: this is a “Meat Egg Burger,” a street food from Northeast China.

A big pancake skin is filled with a generous helping of Chinese chives. The patty is pan-fried until crispy and irresistible.

It’s full of chives – it’s super authentic. See how thin the skin is? And it’s full of filling. This whole mouthful is all chives, local Taitung chives.

The taste of Harbin in Taitung. The restaurant owner Ms. Kung moved from Northeast China to Taiwan to be with her husband 12 years ago. The couple began selling these authentic snacks from her homeland three years ago, and make it all themselves, from the dough to the fillings.

The main thing is to get the skins thin and full of the filling. You should get the aroma of the wheat when you bite down on it. That should be the first sensation. Second should be the fresh taste of chives. Third is the aroma of the meat.

These delicious snacks from an immigrant kitchen are attracting lots of hungry customers from all over Taitung.

宛如大型車輪餅! 台東"肉蛋堡"小攤吸引饕客嚐鮮

台東一家哈爾濱「肉蛋堡」小攤,老闆娘是來自中國的新住民,嫁到台灣已有12年,為了生計跟老公賣起蔥油餅、韭菜盒等台灣常見的點心外,還有東北小吃「肉蛋堡」。乍看像大型車輪餅,包進雞蛋、滿滿豬肉餡集各種配料,吸引不少民眾嚐鮮。

熱油滋滋作響,烤盤上加入面漿,放上豬絞肉,還得拿著刀叉不停在烤盤上一一撥散。

起鍋後,切開超厚餅皮,內餡飽滿多汁,讓人看了口水直流。不過這不是什麼胖胖版紅豆餅,而是東北街邊小吃「肉蛋堡」。

大大餅皮,店家毫不手軟,狂加入韭菜內餡,煎完的韭菜盒,酥脆可口,讓老饕讚不絕口。

來自哈爾濱的好味道,就位在台東。老闆娘孔小姐從中國嫁來台灣已有12年,夫婦二人為了生計,三年前在當地賣起家鄉好滋味。從桿麵到餡料,通通自己來。

“主要是皮要很薄,餡料要飽滿,咬下去一口就可以吃到麵香。第一感覺是要有麵香,第二是要有韭菜的清爽的味道,第三還要有肉香”

飄揚過海的新住民,一門好手藝,用最愛的家鄉味,吸引不少在地居民聞香而來。
