Ko Wen-je will not appeal detention ruling

Former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je will not appeal his detention. Lawyers representing him made the shocking announcement on Monday, meaning Ko will be held incommunicado for at least two months. According to a statement released by his legal team, Ko doesn’t want to trouble for the court by appealing.

Besides Ko, four others have been detained for their suspected involvement in the Core Pacific City corruption case. There is former Taipei Deputy Mayor Pong Cheng-sheng and Core Pacific Group Chair Sheen ching-jing. As well as Taipei City Councilor Ying Hsiao-wei and her aide Wu Shun-min. All four filed appeals against detention, which were ultimately rejected by the Taiwan High Court.

攤開京華城弊案,除了柯文哲外,被羈押的四名被告,包括前台北市副市長彭振聲、威京集團主席沈慶京,以及台北市議員應曉薇,和她的助理吳順民,提出抗告後,全被駁回。
