Looking at the weather, it’s set to get colder. The first strong cold air mass after winter solstice is expected to arrive on the weekend. The lowest temperatures will probably be felt on Saturday through to the early hours of Sunday morning. In some areas, low temperatures could get as low as 6 degrees on the plains. But luckily, the weather is expected to be mostly dry.

Low temperatures on Saturday will be mainly in the north. On Sunday, people living north of Tainan, as well as Yilan and the Huadong Valley should pay attention to low temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Temperatures may be even lower in mountainous areas. With mountains in Taiwan’s north and central regions that are over 3,500 meters high, you need to pay attention to snowfall and roads could be icy. So if you plan to drive there, be sure to pay attention to traffic safety.
However, the continental cold air mass is expected to start weakening on Tuesday and temperatures will rise slightly. So go ahead and plan for New Year’s Eve revelries and joyfully welcome the arrival of 2025.
