Banyan tree along riverside draws comparisons to Ghibli film

When visiting the pagodas at Kaohsiung’s Lotus Lake, a Japanese resident took a picture of a huge banyan tree, its roots clinging to the wall just beside the water. In the post she exclaimed that it looking amazing. It was a sentiment shared with her fellow Japanese users, who commented that it looks like Laputa from Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky. Looks like Kaohsiung has yet another Ghibli destination!
This post on social media shows the roots of a large banyan tree growing along the wall beside a lake. Japanese residents in Taiwan remarked that it’s amazing, and said it reminded them of this anime.
When comparing this famous image from Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki’s 1986 film “Castle in the Sky” with this area near the pagodas at Kaohsiung’s Lotus Lake, they both have towering canopies with knotted roots underneath. The post has gotten a lot of attention, with people saying it definitely makes them think of Laputa.

Lotus Lake is popular with visitors throughout the week, and has the recently renovated Dragon and Tiger Pagodas nearby. If you’re tired of walking around, there’s also good food to eat.
This café in the Kaohsiung Confucius Temple has a vintage feel. Here you can sip tea while also enjoying Taiwanese pastries.
In the corner of the café there’s a guzheng to take pictures with. It also has traditional red outfits to take wedding photos. With so many new attractions, Lotus Lake is sure to draw more visitors than ever.

一名住在台灣的日本人，在蓮池潭春秋閣旁，拍到一棵大榕樹，底下的樹根，緊貼河岸牆面生長，讓她PO文驚呼實在厲害，也吸引許多日本網友留言，說真的超像日本動畫大師宮崎駿，創作的動畫《天空之城》裡的場景「拉普達城」，笑說在高雄，多了一個吉卜力景點。
在社群平台PO出照片，大榕樹底下的樹根，緊貼河岸牆面生長，讓在台日人驚呼實在厲害，也讓人想起這部動畫。
日本動畫大師宮崎駿，1986年製作的《天空之城》，劇中相當知名的場景，和高雄蓮池潭春秋閣旁的比一比，同樣有高聳的樹頭，底下盤根錯節的樹根。PO文引發熱議，還有人留言，的確想到拉普達城。

位在左營孔廟裡的咖啡館，古色古香的空間，不僅能品茗，還能品嚐台式糕點。
咖啡館的角落，還展示一台提供拍照的古箏，還有新人專程穿著傳統紅袍，來拍婚紗照。如今蓮池潭多了一個新景點，拍照打卡的遊客勢必變多。
