
Last year, a high-profile scandal at the Ministry of Labor caught media headlines for weeks, bringing attention to the issue of workplace bullying. One day ahead of Labor Day, DPP Lawmaker Fan Yun范雲 held a press conference with several civic groups to discuss amendments to the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Among the participants were victims of bullying, who shared the difficulties they faced when trying to file complaints. Let’s hear from them.

I had never thought that even the head of the education department would join in the bullying of a junior teacher. If we file a complaint with Tainan’s Department of Education, wouldn’t that be a conflict of interests for them. They are the player and the referee.

The current Occupational Safety and Health Act contains basically no provisions regarding workplace bullying. Victims can only resort to civil lawsuits for personal damages. They have to take the matter to court on their own.
A participant said that victims of workplace bullying had no one to turn to. Fan is proposing amending the act to clearly define bullying and establish a mechanism for filing complaints and investigating cases. She says the changes would be a big step forward for workers’ rights.

去年勞動部霸凌案引起軒然大波,也讓各界更關注職場霸凌問題。勞動節前夕,民進黨立委范雲今天與多個民間團體舉行記者會,共同召開記者會提出職安法修正草案,並找來曾經的受害者,談過去尋求申訴遇到的困難。

就怕霸凌案當事人求助無門,立委范雲提出職安法修正草案,希望明確定義『霸凌』行為,還希望申訴、調查也有明確規定,才能保障勞工的權益。
