TSMC held a shareholder meeting in Hsinchu on Tuesday, with many attending. For many shareholders, buying TSMC shares is a family affair. Meanwhile, CEO C. C. Wei says the company’s prospects are “very, very good” well into the coming five to ten years. He also shuts down rumors that the company is currently considering building a fab in the Middle East.

TSMC CEO C. C. Wei’s brief but powerful response at the shareholder meeting shows his confidence in the company in the long-term. The event in Hsinchu is attended by hundreds, with some even coming from as far south as Kaohsiung.

It’s normal for share prices to fluctuate. I still feel very confident about TSMC, the sacred mountains that protect the nation. All three generations in my family hold TSMC shares. We’re fully behind TSMC.

I help my two grandsons buy more shares. My grandson who’s in primary school wanted to come, but he couldn’t because he has to go to school.
A shareholder asks if TSMC’s additional pledged investments in the US will risk tech leaks. This is Wei’s response.

In two words: certainly not. If our technologies were so easily stolen, then TSMC wouldn’t be where we are today. Our technologies are so advanced that not one person or even 10 or 100 people will be able to steal them.
Whether the US will impose tariffs remains a looming risk, but Wei says they will not have much direct impact, whereas the NTD’s sharp rise of nearly 8% against the greenback has dealt a huge blow.

The net profit margin fell by almost 3%. With a denominator of 3 trillion, you’ll understand what I mean. There’s not much we can do, except keep pushing ourselves and stay on top of the game worldwide, so we can sell at a price that reflects our true value.
Since last year, it’s rumored that TSMC is considering building a fab in the Middle East, due to Nvidia’s interest in the region. Wei also gives his response.

Seriously, there’s no other way to describe this, other than rumors are truly abounding. Last time I already had to respond to the Intel rumor, and now there’s the Middle East, and maybe Africa will be next. So for that question, again, no.
Wei also says that although current international affairs are filled with uncertainties, TSMC still receives more orders than the company can handle at full capacity. Meanwhile, he adds, that the company is already delivering chips used in humanoid robots. He says that the company expects another year of strong growth in 2025.

股東高度關心，台積電加碼投資美國，擔心台灣先進技術外流，魏哲家霸氣回應。

“兩個字，不會，如果這樣子，這麼容易就被偷走，台積電今天不會是這個樣子，現在的技術精進到一個地步，不是1個人，10個人，100個人可以偷的”
美國是否課徵半導體關稅，還不確定，但魏哲家表示不會直接影響。反而是台幣最近暴力升值近8%，影響甚巨。

“（毛利率）降了將近3%多，如果把它乘以3兆，你就知道我在講什麼，沒有什麼怎麼辦，努力做，把技術一直維持在世界第一，賣我們所應該得到的價值”
去年市場就在謠傳，台積電評估去中東設廠，最近因為輝達積極爭取中東市場，又有相關討論，魏哲家直球對決。

“我在想，這個謠言真的叫做滿天飛，上一次我回答了英特爾的問題，現在又要回答中東，下一次可能回答非洲，所以問題的答案同樣，不會”
綜觀當前國際和經濟情勢，雖然充滿不確定性，但魏哲家強調，AI相關訂單依然供不應求，人形機器人晶片也已經在貢獻營收，2025年對台積電來說，依然是穩健成長的一年。
