2025-06-20

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun to evacuate Taiwanese nationals currently in Israel and Iran as conflict in the Middle East escalates.

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung said on social media that an airstrike occurred when Taiwan’s representative office in Israel was assisting a group of Taiwanese to exit the country. Fortunately, the group departed safely. More than 200 Taiwanese are estimated to be still in Israel, most of them long-term residents. As for the nine in Iran, three have sought assistance from Taiwan’s representative office in Dubai, which also overseas Taiwan’s foreign affairs in Iran. They have since exited Iran. As for the remaining six, three were about to leave, while the other three have planned their exits. Therefore, all nine are accounted for, according to MOFA.
