
The annual International Exhibition for Young Inventors showcases inventions by children 6 to 19 years old. This year, Taiwan’s team competed against 156 exhibitors from 13 countries worldwide, bringing home eight gold medals. FTV reporter Stephany Yang met some of the winners to learn more about their inventions.
During table tennis training, retrieving balls can drain both time and energy. To tackle this challenge, students from Stella Maris Primary School developed an innovative paddle-shaped ball collector that can collect, store, and launch balls.

Using your smartphone, users can easily switch between automatic and manual mode. It is also equpited with a touch sensor to free itself when it is stuck. Our machine has a ball launching mode, using motors and rulers on the padel handle. This allows players to continue to practice when the machine collects balls and puts out.

We improved the robot’s ability to accurately identify pingpong balls.
Students from Taoyuan Municipal Longtan Junior High School created a baby AI sleep posture and abnormal temperature alert system. The system utilizes AI technology to recognize an infant’s sleeping posture and detect abnormal body temperature in real time. Through its notification feature, it alerts caregivers to reduce the risk of suffocation, illness, and enhance child safety.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, accidental suffocation caused by the prone sleeping position is one of the leading causes of infant death.

According to the Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, an environment with a temperature between 25°C and 28°C is most suitable for infant development. Therefore, we aim to reduce the risk of sudden infant death by monitoring the room’s temperature and the baby’s sleeping posture.
The International Exhibition for Young Inventors was established in 2003 to spotlight inventions by children 6 to 19 years old. Competition categories include technology for special needs, green technology, education and recreation, foods and agriculture, health and safety, and disaster response and prevention. This year’s event attracted 156 entries from 13 countries and regions. Taiwanese students received eight gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals.

一年一度的世界青少年發明展日前落幕。今年,來自13個國家與地區、156件作品參賽,台灣代表隊共奪得8金,表現亮眼。民視記者採訪了部分得獎選手,深入了解他們的發明。
在桌球訓練中,撿球既費時又費力。為了應對這項挑戰,花蓮縣私立海星國民小學的學生發明了一種創新的桌球拍造型撿球機,可以收集、儲存和發射球。

桃園市立龍潭國民中學生研發嬰兒AI睡姿辨識及溫度異常通知系統。系統運用AI技術辨識嬰兒睡姿,並即時偵測體溫異常,透過通知功能提醒照護者,降低嬰兒窒息與疾病風險,提升育兒安全性。

2003年首次舉辦IEYI世界青少年發明展,提供6歲到19歲的青少年盡情揮灑科技創意的舞台。競賽類別包含「特殊需求技術」、「綠能科技」、「運動休閒」、「農糧技術」、「安全健康」、「災害應變」。今年的活動吸引了來自13個國家和地區的156件參賽作品。台灣學生獲得了8枚金牌、11枚銀牌和7枚銅牌。
