Table tennis champ reveals foodie side, creates homestyle dishes with restaurant

Table tennis pro Lin Yun-ju is a secret foodie, often posting delectable meals to his Instagram. He was even invited by a restaurant conglomerate to create original dishes, including his grandmother’s specialty salted egg yolk green beans and his mother’s steamed egg that he must have before every match. Let’s see how the dishes came out.

From the idea to testing and the final result, I took part in all of it. Step by step, I made the food that I like to eat. I think it’s great.

For us, the hardest one to make were the green beans. How could we make something that’s even better than what someone’s grandma makes? Actually, as soon as Yun-ju tried it, he suggested adding more, so we added more of the salted egg on top to complete the dish.

As someone from Penghu, Lin’s grandmother must serve garlic chicken soup packed with abalone with every family meal. His mother’s specialty is steamed egg with slivered scallops, lending it a rich seafood flavor. It’s actually a must-eat for Lin before every match.

-Why steamed egg?
-Because the ingredients are easy to get abroad and it’s healthy.
-If you eat steamed egg, then the next day...
-I’ll accidentally win.

Lin grew up in a household that loves and appreciates good food. He even created a special Instagram account just for food pics.

Lin also loves sushi and has been learning how to make it, showing another kind of talent behind the table.

台灣桌球好手林昀儒,私下是位美食家,經常在ig分享美食,這回被餐飲集團邀請當創意主廚,他也把奶奶的拿手好菜金莎四季豆、和比賽前媽媽常煮的必勝料理蒸蛋,端上桌,味道如何一起去品嚐!

桌球好手林昀儒這回不打球,當起廚藝總監,把奶奶的招牌菜四季豆搬上桌,裹上滿滿鹹蛋黃,每一口都能吃到鹹香滋味。

"對我們來講最難的一道菜,其實是四季豆,怎麼可能有人做的菜,會比阿嬤做得四季豆好吃,沒想到小林同學一吃,說他還要加,所以我們把金沙醬往上加上去,才完成這道金沙四季豆"

林昀儒奶奶是澎湖人,家庭聚餐少不了的蒜頭雞湯,加入滿滿鮑魚,增添鮮甜,媽媽的拿手菜"蒸蛋",也能吃到濃郁海味的干貝絲,這道菜其實是林昀儒,比賽前的必勝料理。

-為什麼做蒸蛋呢?
-因為在國外食材比較好取得,然後也有營養。
-吃了蒸蛋隔天就...?
-不小心拿冠軍。

從小在家中培養出愛吃、懂吃的味蕾,林昀儒還創立ig帳號,拍下各地美食。

愛吃壽司的他,最近還學會捏壽司,也展現出小林同學,比賽場外的另一面。
