Taoyuan International Airport is introducing new rules for picking up and dropping off passengers, to reduce illegal parking that disrupts traffic flow. Curb-side parking to pick up or drop off passengers will have to happen within three minutes, starting next year. Tech-based tracking will start on Jan. 1 for a three-month trial period. Official enforcement will start on April 1. Let’s hear more.

Thinks it’s reasonable
If they’re already out, it shouldn’t take too long. Three minutes should be fine.
Member of public
Thinks it’s a hassle
Just three minutes? If you are about to come out and you’re a bit late, you’d end up having to go around the airport again! I don’t think enforcing this with tech is necessary.
Huang Ming-kai
Aviation Police Bureau
Due to high passenger volume at the airport and the limited road space, we often see illegal parking, which affects passenger pick-ups. We’re launching a two-year trial period using tech-based enforcement.
Technology enforcement will be activated at the arrivals areas of both Terminals 1 and 2. Vehicles that stand for more than three minutes will be automatically photographed and ticketed. Police are urging the public to cooperate and recommend using the airport parking lots, in which the first 30 minutes are free of charge.
