If you’re looking to get a home appliance fixed, be careful with scams. For many of us, a broken appliance means immediately going online to find a repair company. But according to the Consumers’ Foundation, there are many fake repair centers on the internet. They impersonate service providers and claim to have service outlets all around the country. But in reality, they are not authorized by the original manufactures and charge high fees for “repairs” that might actually make the problem worse.
The Consumers’ Foundation has a tip to find the real deal. If you’re searching online, make sure to also include keywords such as “official website.” And remember, when getting appliances fixed, it’s best to find repair centers that have been vetted by the original manufacturer. That ensures reliable fixes and consistent pricing, saving you headaches with further repairs and more time wasted down the line.
