Commuters recommend HSR over MRT to travel across Taipei

Most people traveling from Taipei Main Station to Nangang take the MRT. But if you’re in a hurry, some commuters have discovered that it’s 10 minutes faster to take the high-speed rail, and only NT$5 more expensive. They’re encouraging others to changes lines too, saying it’s more than worth it.

When traveling from Taipei Main to Nangang, most people take the MRT. But some people have discovered that if you go just across the way and take the HSR instead, it’s faster and only costs NT$5 more.

For only a NT$5 difference and getting there a little bit faster, for me, I think it’s OK. Sometimes it’s really crowded on the MRT, but usually, the HSR has passenger limits and people have slightly different destinations.

If you can spend only NT$5 more and get there 10 minutes faster, I’d be willing to do it.
The journey from Taipei Main to Nangang on the HSR takes 8 to 9 minutes compared to 19 minutes on the MRT. For just NT$5 more, you can save 10 minutes. It’s also less crowded, and you’ll be sure to get a seat. It seems like a deal that can’t be beat. But if you factor in frequency, during peak hours, there’s only a high-speed train every 5 to 25 minutes, compared to a train every 2 to 2-and-a-half minutes on the MRT. If your timing is off, it wouldn’t be worth it.

The MRT runs more frequently. SoI’d take a look at the schedule first. If the MRT would be faster, I’d choose that.
When choosing between the HSR and MRT, you need to consider ticket price, timing, and train frequency. But some have come up with a compromise. With its more frequent departures and cheaper price than the HSR, plus acceptance of TPass, the Taiwan Railway is also a solid alternative.

從台北車站到南港，不少通勤的民眾，都會選擇搭乘捷運，不過，有趕時間的網友發現，如果改搭高鐵，可以省下10分鐘，而且，票價只多了五塊錢！民眾直呼好划算，推薦大家都這樣搭。

“從台北到南港，不少人都會搭乘捷運，不過現在卻有網友發現，轉個方向，改搭高鐵，速度更快，票價卻只貴了五塊。”

“差五塊錢而已，那速度上可能也會稍微快一點點，對所以我個人認為，應該是OK的。有時候搭捷運，是非常擁擠的，但是高鐵的話基本上，它的人數可能限制跟，到達目的地的用途，可能不太一樣。”

“既然說我能多花五塊錢，然後可以快十分鐘到的話，那我覺得我還滿願意，花這個錢的。”
從台北到南港，搭高鐵，單趟只要8到9分鐘，比起捷運一趟19分鐘。多付5元，省下10多分鐘，而且，還不用人擠人，確定有位置坐。這樣看起來，CP值確實不錯！但若把班次密度算進去，尖峰時段，高鐵5到25分，才有一班車；相較北捷尖峰時段2分鐘到2分半一班，要是沒掌握好時刻表，高鐵高速紅利，恐怕就被吃掉。

“我個人是覺得還可以啦，但不會因為這樣子，去特別去選什麼，就自己日常生活中，方便就好。”

“畢竟捷運的班次還是比較多嘛，我會先去看那個班次表，如果捷運會比較快的話，那我就會選擇捷運。”
搭捷運、還是搭高鐵，票價、路程時長、班距都是考量因素。也有網友採折衷說。班次比高鐵密集、票價比高鐵便宜的台鐵，還能用TPASS，也是不錯的選擇。
