2026-06-15

Taiwan shares surged on the first trading day of the week, closing up 1,227 points for 45,396 points, with a transaction volume of NT$1.06 trillion. The surge was mainly driven by leading semiconductor, AI and finance-related stocks, such as TSMC, MediaTek and Hon Hai.

According to an analyst, markets across Asia rallied thanks to a tentatative peace deal between the US and Iran, as well as a US rally driven by the SpaceX IPO. Japan’s Nikkei Index also reached a historic high on Monday, with an intraday gain of 3,600 points; while South Korean stocks also grew by more than 5%.
