Hualien’s tourism has finally emerged from the shadow of last year’s disastrous floods in Guangfu Township. A colorful four-day Indigenous festival recently concluded, attracting a whopping record of 120,000 visitors. One hotel operator estimated her average occupancy rate was 80%. The harvest festival has been very beneficial to the entire Hualien tourism industry, especially this year when attendance reached a record high. Our conservative estimates put around 120,000 visitors throughout the four-day festival.

In fact, people booked a month in advance—especially group tours—and our average occupancy rate reached 80%.

The four-day international-level Indigenous cultural event is giving Hualien tourism a strong boost, with businesses in shopping districts, hotels, and guesthouses all seeing the return of tourist flows.

There are many more activities coming up to welcome everyone to Hualien, and I believe the number of tourists will continue to grow steadily.

After the devastating landslides and flooding in Guangfu Township last year, Hualien’s tourism industry has fully recovered, demonstrating a strong rebound. The county government emphasizes that there will be more events, once after the other, to keep the popularity of Hualien tourism going until the end of the year.

走出去年光復鄉堰塞湖洪災陰霾，花蓮縣觀光人潮回流，為期四天的太平洋南島聯合豐年節，日前圓滿落幕，吸引超過12萬人次湧入，更帶動周邊經濟效益，有旅宿業者表示，平均住房率高達八成，縣府強調活動一波波，接力點燃下半年觀光商機。
