Brother drills ceiling hole in bizarre escalation of 20-year feud

A 20-year family feud that started because of a leaky ceiling has literally broken through the floor and escalated into a bizarre war between neighbors. The principal factions are led by two brothers living on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the same apartment building in New Taipei. The older brother says a huge hole recently appeared on his ceiling, after his little brother living upstairs grabbed an electric drill and punched through his own floor. The upstairs brother now uses the hole to flush out water from his unit, sending a murky waterfall splashing down in the second floor every now and then. Let’s hear more.

He really grabbed a drill and bit by bit it came crumbling down. Now there really is a hole in my ceiling, and he’s started bucketing water down. It all started when I told them they should help us deal with a leak. But he did nothing! We even asked the local borough warden for help to no avail. A few years later, they got a leak in their ceiling, and they told us to do something about it.

I’m all down to help and to talk things out. If we have to fix it all, so be it. I said we can start from the very top, and then fix our way down to the 2nd floor. We could all do the repairs together and split the cost. But they don’t want to.
And the feud extends outside the home. The two brothers co-own a shop with another four siblings. The elder brother claims that his little brother refuses to pay rent whenever they have a falling-out. From drippy ceilings to rental debt, the older brother has ultimately decided to take the argument to court in hopes that a judge will put this drawn-out family drama to rest.

新北市一對親兄弟，因為住宅漏水問題，互相不滿長達20年，住在3樓的弟弟指控2樓哥哥，拒絕共同處理漏水問題，竟然故意在地板鑽洞灌水，導致2樓天花板瞬間成為瀑布。

“他真的用電鑽在那邊鑽，很多屑屑掉下來，（天花板）真的就破洞了，然後他就開始沖水這樣子。一開始其實我們有跟他們反應說，他漏水他必須要幫我們處理。他都不幫我們處理，我們也找過里長跟他談（沒下文），（幾年後）他們家屋頂會漏水，他就要求我們要處理這樣。”

“我有心處理，我有心協商，假如要處理沒有關係，我們從上面處裡，然後再來處理你二樓，大家共同修理共同分擔，他也不要啊。”
此外，兩兄弟在新北市還有一間店面，由包含他們在內的六個兄弟姊妹共同持分，哥哥也控訴，只要不滿，弟弟就會說不給租金。從漏水到租金問題，兄弟吵不完，哥哥未來也打算走法律途徑，只希望生活能恢復平靜。
