Train overshoots platform after forgetting to stop

Tuesday evening at around 6, a local train missed the stopping mark at North Hsinchu Station and had five carriages exceed the platform. It continued south to Hsinchu Station, where passengers were requested to take another train back. The Taiwan Railway released an official statement claiming the train overshot the station because the driver was too focused on signal lights and forgot that North Hsinchu was a stop.
A train enters the station and begins to slow down. Many passengers are eagerly waiting for this train, yet what seems like a regular Tuesday quickly turned into a massive blunder. Passengers watched as the train passed them by one carriage at a time until it finally rolled to a stop exceeding the platform by five carriages.

Passengers who wanted to get on or off must be quite confused. It seems like a very basic mistake. If I were a passenger on board, about to get off, and then it skipped the station, I would think, “What are they doing?”

Taiwan Railway issued a statement explaining that the driver was too focused on the traffic signals and forgot to stop at North Hsinchu Station. Since another train was approaching from behind, the overshot train had to continue south to Hsinchu Station, five minutes away. Passengers who wanted to get off at North Hsinchu Station were asked to take another train back.

Recently, Taiwan Railway has had quite a few incidents. Despite increasing the fare, safety doesn’t seem to have improved. Taiwan Railway needs to pay more attention to this.
A similar incident occurred in 2024. It seems that despite its restructuring as a state-owned corporation, Taiwan Railway’s screws haven’t been tightened yet.

又出包! 台鐵駕駛忘停靠"北新竹" 五節車廂竟超出月台

昨天晚上六點多，台鐵北新竹站，一列區間車，明明要靠站，卻有五節車廂超出月台，只好繼續往南開到車程五分鐘內的新竹站，再請旅客坐另一班列車回頭。台鐵回應，開過頭的原因，是駕駛太專心注意號誌，忘記北新竹站要停靠。
台鐵列車進入車站，緩緩降低車速，不少旅客早已在月台等候，看似平常的場景，周二卻出突然出包，旅客就這麼看著列車超出月台，一節兩節三節，直到超出五節車廂才停下。

“上車或者是下車的乘客們，應該會很不知所措吧，聽起來是很低級的錯誤，如果我是在上面的乘客，準備要下車，然後就這樣子過站不停，對我來講會覺得，到底是在幹嘛”

台鐵發聲明解釋，因為駕駛過度專心注意號誌，忘記在北新竹站停車。由於當時後方有另一列火車接近，這列過頭區間車只好繼續往南，開到車程五分鐘內的新竹站，再請要原本在北新竹站下車的旅客，自己坐車回來。

類似情事，在2024年也發生過，已經公司化的台鐵，似乎螺絲還沒鎖緊。
