Yilan exports inaugural batch of speciality red pomelo to Singapore

Taiwan’s top-quality produce is about to meet another market! Specialty red pomelo from Yilan’s Dongshan Township has been exported overseas for the first time, as the first batch heads to Singapore thanks to the combined efforts of the county government and local farmers’ association. The first 2.4 metric tonnes of a planned 8 tons total were recently loaded into containers and shipped off to customs. With its appealing pink flesh and delicate, juicy texture, the limited-supply red pomelo is sure to make a strong debut in Singaporean supermarkets.
Crystalline pink flesh glistens from this cut pomelo, plump and close to bursting. This isn’t any old fruit. It’s a specialty red pomelo from Yilan’s Dongshan Township.
The red pomelo is not only delicate and juicy, but has a perfect balance of sour and sweet. With help from the county government and local farmers’ associations, it’s set to make its overseas debut with 8 metric tons bound for Singapore. The first 2.4 tons is already on its way.

Like other large fruits, the red pomelo retains its water content, and it keeps its sugar content as well. Of course, it has a natural acidity as well, so the ratio of sweet to sour is well balanced.
The harvest season for red pomelo is relatively short with limited supply, so the farmers are using a limited-edition approach. Through rigorous grading, they maintain sweetness at 11 degrees Brix or higher to ensure only the finest produce enters Singapore’s supermarkets.

We want to test the Singapore market and see if we can promote our seasonal fruits in a place that also has an ethnic Chinese population to provide greater income for our farmers.
Singapore is strict with food safety rules, proving that Yilan’s red pomelo can meet international standards. The county plans to help farmers keep strengthening their brand and export to more markets, becoming a source of pride for Taiwan.

台灣優質農產再度飄香國際！宜蘭冬山鄉特產「紅文旦」首度跨海爭光，在縣府與農會攜手促成下，正式啟運進軍新加坡市場。首批2.4公噸頂級果品裝櫃出關，預計將外銷共8公噸。以迷人粉紅果肉、細緻多汁著稱的限量紅文旦，將強勢進駐當地大型連鎖超市。
剝開外皮，晶瑩剔透的粉紅色果肉，看起來飽滿多汁，這是宜蘭冬山鄉特有的紅文旦。
紅文旦不但肉質細緻多汁，而且酸甜完美平衡，這次擄獲國際廠商青睞，在縣府與農會的促成下首度進軍海外，共有8公噸銷往新加坡，首批2.4公噸果品將出關。

“它(紅文旦)在大果的話，它一樣，它的一個果肉的水分它還是有的，再來就是它的甜度也會維持，那當然說在本身果酸的話，它會比較豐富一點，所以等於是酸甜比會比較適中一些。”
紅文旦產季較短、供應量有限，農會以精選限量方式，透過嚴格分級，把甜度把控在十一度以上，用最好的果品，勇闖新加坡大型連鎖超市。

“嘗試一下我們新加坡的整個市場，看一下，同樣都是在擁有華人的情況之下，我們是不是能夠推動，我們的節氣的一個水果，讓我們的農民有更多的收益。”
新加坡市場對食安要求極為嚴格，證明宜蘭紅文旦的產地管理，已經獲得國際肯定，未來將持續協助農民強化品牌，外銷到更多國家，成為台灣之光。
