Zhubei City baffled by the mystery of trees with band of yellowed leaves

Hsinchu locals were baffled in recent weeks by a strange arboreal incident. In Zhubei City, a row of trees along Xinglong Road all developed a yellow band, at the same height off the ground. The leaves and branches at a certain height all shifted from their usual green. But how did it happen? The local public works department was on the case.
Trees line this avenue in an orderly row. It’s a lovely green fringe for the road, except for this stretch of about 650 meters. All these trees have a mysterious band of beige-yellow leaves at exactly the same height off the ground.
These Chinese juniper trees line the island in the middle of Xinglong Road. Recently dozens of trees on the South-facing side developed the yellow band, mystifying motorists. The Hsinchu Public Works Department swung into detective mode to figure out what was up.

We think it was a contractor’s asphalt paver laying asphalt in June or July. The weather conditions were hot, so the temperature of the exhaust fumes had an effect on the leaves and the branches of the Chinese juniper trees.
Mystery solved! A vehicle laying a new road surface was emitting exhaust fumes from its top left corner, exactly at the same height as the beige-yellow band. With the paver sitting on the road for hours, its fumes scorched the trees brown.

We’ll see if it affects the survival of the Chinese junipers. At the same time we will do some pruning and management of the leaves.
The 15-year-old trees have never been scorched like this before. The strange sight has brought puzzlement to visitors and Hsinchu locals alike.
整排龍柏染"皮蛇"? 竟是被廢氣"燙傷"了

行道樹也會長皮蛇嗎？新竹竹北市興隆路中央分隔島旁的數十棵龍柏，最近出現枯黃現象，而且位置都在相同高度，乍看之下很像長了皮蛇，也像戴了條咖啡色的項鍊。就連縣府工務處養護科一開始也猜不透原因，之後才發現原來是之前鋪柏油時，工程車上的排氣管排出的廢氣＂燙傷＂了龍柏。
道路旁的行道樹，整齊排排站，看起來綠意盎然。不過拉近一看，一整排約650公尺的人行樹，同樣的高度，都有一段葉子枯黃，像是拉出一條咖啡色的線。
新竹竹北市興隆路中央分隔島上的龍柏，最近被人發現，數十棵面南的枝葉都出現枯黃，到底怎麼回事？工務處扮演柯南，循線追查。

“應該是在今年6、7月的時候，包商的柏油車，工程車因為載柏油，是一個高熱度的情形，所以排氣的高度恰好影響到龍柏樹的樹葉和樹枝”
終於破案，原來之前這裡進行柏油鋪設工程，施工的工程車，上頭的排氣管就在左側，高度也吻合龍柏的項鍊位置，搞了半天這枯黃的葉子，是被燙傷的。

“看看會不會影響到，龍柏樹的存活的問題，那同時我們也會來做一些，樹枝樹葉的修剪或是整理”
樹齡15年的龍柏意外燙傷，像是皮蛇的奇觀，成了話題，連工程人員都是第一次看到。
