Latest technology applications on show at 2022 Meet Greater South in Kaohsiung

The Department of Industrial Technology was one of the participants at this year’s 2022 Meet Greater South expo in Kaohsiung. The department brought over R&D institutes and startups developing innovations in the fields of 5G, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. The DoIT says the event was a success, as a startup team it nurtured secured orders with three major steel and petrochemical companies. Meanwhile, the Industrial Technology Research Institute signed an MOU with a local convenience store to install autonomous mobile robots that can deliver meals right to workers’ offices.

The Department of Industrial Technology under the Ministry of Economic Affairs was one of many participants at the 2022 Meet Greater South expo at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. On Day 1 of the event, the department announced some good news.

On the first day of the event, we immediately heard that the startup team we nurtured has secured order from three companies. That’s just on Day 1. I think this proves that Southern Taiwan has great potential for developing innovations.

The Department of Industrial Technology says a startup team that it had nurtured had secured orders from major steel and petrochemical enterprises in Kaohsiung. At the expo, ITRI showcased its newly developed autonomous mobile robot. It’s the first vehicle of its kind in Taiwan capable of transporting meals indoors and outdoors and calling elevators autonomously. The robot has caught the eye of a delivery platform operated by a convenience store chain. The developers and the retailer signed an MOU to implement the technology at Kaohsiung Software Technology Park, so that employees can order food online and get it delivered by robot straight to their offices.

Over the next four years, we will invest NT$10.6 billion on technologies and innovations at the Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT Innovative Park. It’s not just innovative technology. We also hope to turn the Asia New Bay Area into a smart-living park. Already, 11 companies from home and abroad are bringing their most innovative 5G AIoT technologies to the Asia New Bay Area, attracting more than NT$12 billion in R&D investment.

ITRI, the Institute for Information Industry, the Metal Industries Research and Development Centre and the Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center were just some of the exhibitors showcasing their latest developments, with developers putting forward more than 23 technologies they hope to implement in Southern Taiwan. In addition, 13 startups took part in the event, to find a future for 5G and AIoT technologies in industries in Southern Taiwan.

2022"亞灣創新、新創大南方"會展，在高雄展覽館熱鬧登場，其中經濟部技術處率領了旗下研發法人及新創團隊參展，活用5G AIoT等技術，發展出多項新創技術，獲得高雄在地鋼鐵廠及石化大廠青睞，另外還有無人送餐物流車，更獲得超商外送平台青睞，現場簽訂備忘錄，未來有望先在高雄軟體園區導入。

經濟部技術處參加在高雄展覽館舉辦的"亞灣創新X新創大南方"會展，才第一天，就傳出了好消息。

“開展的第一天，我們就馬上傳出了有三廠訂單的捷報，第一天，我想這個可以證明說，在南台灣這裡的整個新創的發展，非常具有發展的潛力”

經濟部技術處撫育的新創團隊拿下了包括高雄的鋼鐵與石化大廠的訂單，而工研院開發的"無人物流車"，是台灣首輛可以行駛於室內外、並且呼叫電梯的無人送餐物流車，獲得了連鎖超商旗下的外送平台青睞，雙方也共同簽訂MOU，未來會率先在高雄軟體園區導入，線上下單就能直接把超商餐點送進辦公室門口。

“我們在未來的四年，會投入高達106億元，在整個亞灣(5G AIoT園區)創新的科技，不但是創新科技，我們還希望打造亞灣成為一個智慧生活的園區，現在已經引進了有11家國內外的大廠，願意把他們最前瞻的5G AIoT的科技進駐到亞灣地區來，帶來120億元以上的研發投資”

這次展出包括含工研院、資策會、金屬中心及船舶中心等研發法人及新創事業成果，共23個可望在南台灣落地發展技術，13個新創團隊參與，也讓5G、AIoT等技術，為南部產業帶來更多效益。
