Taiwan shuttlers move up in men’s singles, doubles BWF rankings

And now onto sports. Taiwan’s badminton stars have gained several spots near the top of the latest Badminton World Federation rankings. Among them, the duo made up of Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin now stands at No. 2 in the men’s doubles rankings. The Olympic gold medalists are just over 3,500 points behind the World No. 1 team from Japan. Over in the men’s singles, Taiwan shuttler Chou Tien-chen moved up one position in the ranking to World No. 4. In the women’s singles, Tai Tzu-ying remains as world No. 2.

Over on social media, badminton commentator Gill Clark broke down some fun facts about the World Tour. Since its inception in 2018, 33 World Tour events at Super 750 and above have been held, including the World Tour Finals. All of the women’s singles titles at these events have been won by the current Top 8 players on the BWF raking. Clark added that, out of the eight shuttlers, six have at some point held the title of World No. 1. Tai is the player with most World Tour titles on the list, with nine wins.

BWF今天公布最新羽球世界排名,最大亮點就是台灣奧運黃金男雙李洋與王齊麟上升一名,來到生涯新高的世界排名第二,僅次於日本男雙搭檔小林優吾及保木卓朗。至於男單周天成上升到世界第四,戴資穎則繼續穩坐世界第二。

另外,BWF御用主播克拉克在個人社群分享數據,從2018年來舉行的33場超級750巡迴賽中,女單冠軍正好是由目前排名前八的選手完全包辦,其中又以戴資穎拿下9座冠軍最多,當中6人曾經登上過球后地位,讓克拉克感嘆,現在真的是女單的美好年代。
