Customers queue for hours for burger from iconic US fast food chain

Eager customers lined up at the crack of dawn in Taipei, all to buy a burger from an iconic fast-food chain from the U.S. West Coast. It was the fourth time that the chain offered a pop-up restaurant in Taiwan, and this time it made enough for just 500 people. Some in line said they’d been waiting since 5 a.m. Some traveled over from as far away as Taichung

A long line twists and turns into the distance. To shield themselves from the scorching sun, some customers came prepared with hats and parasols. They are all here to grab a bite from this historic American fast food restaurant chain.

A Californian in the crowd says she wants that familiar taste. Also in the queue is calorie-conscious entertainer Cheryl Hsieh, who uses the wait time to do squats and feel less guilty about her feast.

At 9 a.m., staff start handing out 500 numbers, leaving out this group who traveled all the way from Miaoli. And then, at long last, the burger joint opens its doors.

All the fuss and waiting is for this juicy burger, which has won the hearts of baseball star Shohei Ohtani, soccer legend David Beckham and Oscar-winning director Ang Lee. Tuesday’s event was the burger chain’s fourth pop-up in Taiwan. Although it offered just three kinds of burgers on the menu, it still sparked a frenzy nationwide.

全球有363家分店的美國西岸知名漢堡店圈粉無數，周二第四度來台快閃一天，清晨5點多就有民眾排隊，甚至不少人從外縣市趕來，9點發500個號碼牌，不少人撲空扼腕，藝人謝忻也出現在隊伍中，她說7點就從基隆來朝聖，拿到號碼羨煞不少粉絲。

排隊人龍繞過一個又一個轉角，大太陽底下，民眾自備帽子、陽傘，大夥兒都是衝著，擁有74年歷史美國西岸知名漢堡店而來。

加州人挺家鄉味，藝人謝忻也出現在隊伍當中，擔心熱量爆表，邊排隊、邊深蹲，減少罪惡感。

9點開始發500個號碼牌，苗栗的朋友晚來一步就撲空，終於等到餐廳開門。

排了老半天就是為了它，餡料飽滿的漢堡擄獲大谷翔平、貝克漢、導演李安等名人的胃，第四度來台快閃只賣3款漢堡，再度掀起熱潮。
