Wang Hsing-hao bags silver in Universiade men’s 200-meter individual medley

Taiwan’s swimmer Wang Hsing-hao has bagged a silver medal in the men’s 200-meter individual medley at the Summer University Games in Chengdu. The 24-year-old Taichung native finished the final with a time of exactly 2 minutes, topping his previous third-place finish at the Naples Universiade. His second-place finish in Chengdu is Taiwan’s best showing in any swimming event at the competition.

He enters the pool at the Chengdu Universiade, ready to compete for a medal in the final for the men’s 200-meter individual medley. Taiwan’s Wang Hsing-hao in Lane 1 kicked off the first 50 meters of the race with a powerful butterfly stroke that put him firmly in the lead.

He fell back to second place in the second stretch with a backstroke, but maintained his position well in the breast stroke, keeping pace with his rivals. Swimming freestyle in the final stretch, he defended his place to finish the race in exactly 2 minutes, winning a silver medal and marking Taiwan’s best showing in the sport.

At the previous Summer Universiade in Naples, Wang had won bronze in the men’s 200-meter individual medley, which was Taiwan’s first medal for swimming at the competition. This time Wang was able to shake off a recent string of disappointing results to take home silver.

Over in the women’s 100-meter breast stroke Taiwan was represented by Lin Pei-wen, who set a Taiwan record of 1 minute and 8.48 seconds at the National University and College Athletic Games in May. Lin placed 11th in the prelims and moved on to the finals with a placement of 8th in the semis. Swimming in Lane 8, she finished the first 50 meters in 32.89 seconds coming in at No. 7. She kept up her position in the second half, and finished 7th with a time of 1 minute and 10.2 seconds.

Lin still has another race ahead of her, the women’s 50-meter breast stroke. With competing in lieu of training, Lin hopes to enter the race in top condition and with more experience in the pool. This will also prepare her for her next contest – the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

世大運游泳傳捷報！王星皓200公尺混合式摘銀

成都世大運游泳項目獎牌開張，台灣游泳選手王星皓，上屆拿坡里奪下台灣隊在世大運的首面銅牌後，本屆又在男子200公尺混合式決賽，以2分整成績摘下銀牌。不只王星皓個人連兩屆世大運抱回獎牌，也刷新了台灣游泳隊在世大運的最佳紀錄。

成都世大運的游泳池畔，男子200公尺混合式決賽，台灣好手王星皓拚獎牌，從第一水道出發的他，一開始前50公尺的蝶式項目，就衝在最前頭。

雖然仰式完暫時掉到第二，不過進入到蛙式後，王星皓保持速度，和第二名的位置。在最後衝刺的自由式階段，也穩穩守住。最後是以兩分整的成績，游回了一面銀牌，也刷新了台灣隊的紀錄。

上屆在拿坡里世大運，王星皓在男子200公尺混合式奪銅，拿下台灣隊首面世大運游泳獎牌，本屆成都世大運擺脫近期低潮，拚下這面銀牌。

而在女子100公尺蛙式決賽，台灣蛙后林姵彣今年在5月在全大運游出1分08秒48締造台灣紀錄，這次首度來到世大運舞台，以預賽第11、準決賽第8晉級決賽。第8水道的林姵彣，比賽開始前面50公尺，林姵彣以32秒89排名暫時第七，而後面50公尺也維持排名，林姵彣以1分10秒20成績，總排名第七作收。

接下來林姵彣還要在個人50公尺蛙式出賽，藉著世大運以賽代訓，林姵彣也期盼能以最佳狀態，增加更多實戰經驗，備戰接下登場的杭州亞運。
