Former Japanese PM Aso Taro to have 3-day visit starting Monday: Japanese media

Former Japanese Prime Minister Aso Taro will visit Taiwan from Aug. 7 to 9, according to Japanese media outlets Mainichi Shimbun and NHK. Aso is currently the vice president of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party or LDP.

He will be the highest-ranking LDP politician to visit Taiwan since formal diplomatic relations were severed in 1972. In addition to meeting with President Tsai, he’s also expected to hold talks with the DPP’s presidential candidate, Vice President Lai Ching-te, as well as Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an of the KMT.

根據每日新聞和NHK報導,日本前首相兼現任自民黨副黨魁,麻生太郎,即將在8月7至9日訪問台灣。

這是1972年台日斷交以來,訪台的最高等級現任自民黨幹部。預計訪問期間,除了會見總統蔡英文,也預計和副總統兼總統候選人、賴清德,以及台北市長蔣萬安舉行會談。
