‘Butterfly King’ Wang Kuan-hung finishes National Games with 8 golds

Turning now to the National Games in Tainan. It was the last day of swimming competitions, and what a finale. Wang Kuan-hung, a.k.a. the “Butterfly King,” broke the national record in the men’s 50-meter butterfly, despite fierce competition from four other national record holders. He then went on to win the 400-meter freestyle, securing his eighth gold at this year’s National Games.

It’s the finals of the men’s 50-meter butterfly. Wang Kuan-hung, known as Taiwan’s “Butterfly King,” competes from Lane 4, alongside four other national record holders.

At 21 years old, Wang won the 200-meter butterfly silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games, ending Taiwan’s 25-year medal drought in swimming. At the National Games in Tainan, he’s stayed in top form, scoring six golds in the first four days.

Wang finished the 50-meter race in 24.21 seconds, setting a new national record and bagging his seventh gold. He then went on to compete in the 400-meter freestyle final. In the last 50 meters of the race, Wang rushed forward to widen his lead, finishing in 3 minutes 58.7 seconds and claiming his second gold of the day. That brought his total haul to eight golds and three silvers. It’s the second time in a row he’s won eight golds at the National Games.

After competing in the Asian Games, I didn’t really train that much, because I wanted to give myself some time to relax. The National Games were just two weeks after the Asian Games. I think I performed all right this time around. Breaking the national record was quite a surprise.

Over in track and field, all eyes were on Taiwan’s fastest man Yang Chun-han during the men’s 200-meter sprint finals. After coming in round the corner, Yang pushed hard in the final stretch to leave his rivals behind. He finished the race in 20.65 seconds, winning his fifth consecutive gold at the National Games.

台灣蝶王發威! 王冠閎全運會游泳狂摘8金

台南全國運動會，游泳最後一天的比賽，代表台北市的亞運銀牌好手王冠閎，在男子50公尺蝶式以24秒21，打破全國紀錄的成績奪金，400公尺自由式也拿下金牌，本屆全運會王冠閎總共收下8金3銀，連續第二屆全運會進帳8面金牌。

男子50公尺蝶式決賽，第4水道的就是台灣蝶王王冠閎，這場決賽，總共有5位全國紀錄保持人同場競技。

21歲的王冠閎，之前在杭州亞運奪下200公尺蝶式銀牌，終結台灣25年的游泳獎牌荒，現在參加全運依然勇猛，前4天已獲得6面金牌。

王冠閎以24秒21的成績，刷新了全國紀錄，這也是王冠閎在本屆全運會的第7面金牌，比完50公尺蝶式之後，王冠閎繼續在400公尺自由式，挑戰金牌，最後50公尺，把領先差距越拉越大，最後以3分58秒70的成績，摘下單日第二面金牌，本屆全運會王冠閎收獲8金3銀，連續第二屆全運會進帳8金。

“亞運比完之後，其實沒有過太多的練習，因為要給自己放鬆的時間，亞運完過兩週就比全運會嘛，所以我覺得這次比賽成績還算及格，然後有達到破全國也是滿意外滿驚喜的”

鏡頭再轉到田徑場上，台灣最速男楊俊瀚，參加男子200公尺短跑決賽，是最受矚目的選手，出了彎道之後，楊俊瀚衝了出來，最後的直線衝刺，已經拉開差距，最終以20秒65的成績摘下金牌，完成全運會5連霸。
