
The three-day Taiwan Expo Japan had its grand opening in Tokyo on Wednesday. Present at the ceremony were economics minister Wang Mei-hua, TAITRA Chair James Huang, envoy to Japan Frank Hsieh, and Japan-ROC Diet Members’ Consultative Council Chair Furuya Keiji. The expo showcased Taiwan’s latest high-tech products targeted at the Japanese market.

Both Taiwan and Japan face issues surrounding a declining birthrate and aging population. They must both rely on digital technologies to enhance their services. The Taiwan Expo Japan showcases Taiwan’s latest applications for achieving a digital transformation and a green energy transformation.

Other semiconductor manufacturers are willing to increase investment in Taiwan. Some NT$10 billion will be invested in the first quarter of next year.
According to the economics minister, the Taiwan-Japanese tech partnership is set to grow closer. While in Tokyo, she’s already visited several Japanese firms to court investment. Companies including Ebara Corporation and Fujifilm have committed to increasing their Taiwan investment, by about NT$10 billion.

經濟部長王美花指出,台日產業會愈來愈緊密,這次來到日本,已拜訪一些有意願投資台灣的廠商,包括荏原製作所、富士軟片等還有其他半導體廠商,他們都有意願加碼投資台灣,預計投資台幣100億元。
