Plum rains bring 81.89 million tons of water to reservoirs islandwide

A recent plum rain front has given a boost to reservoirs nationwide. The biggest beneficiaries have been the Tsengwen and Wushantou reservoirs, which received at least 24 million tons of rain. Over in Nantou, Sun Moon Lake is nearly at full capacity, with only one frog visible on its iconic nine-frog sculpture. Taoyuan’s Shihmen Reservoir has risen to 33% capacity. Altogether, Taiwan’s reservoirs have gained over 81 million tons of water in recent days.
Powerful thunderstorms on Tuesday caused flooding in many parts of the island. The passing front also gave a lift to Taiwan’s reservoirs.

Total rainfall was about 81.89 million tons, which was of great help for our reservoirs. Taiwan’s main reservoirs are now at about 30% capacity. In Central Taiwan, some reservoirs even reached more than 90% capacity.
Tsengwen and Wushantou reservoirs received the most water, at 24 million tons. Sun Moon Lake almost filled to capacity, leaving just one frog visible on its nine-frog statue. Liyutan and Techi reservoirs each gained 8 million tons. All in all, Taiwan reservoirs collected 81.89 million tons of rain. Despite great gains in central and southern Taiwan, Shihmen Reservoir in Taoyuan received just 3.6 million tons, bringing water levels to 33.1% capacity. With water demand from the agricultural sector still high, the Water Resources Agency says conservation measures will remain in place.
Leisure boat operators are delighted by the rains, which have fallen in all the right places. On Wednesday, Shihmen Reservoir saw a fair day with a light breeze. But a cloud system will sweep in from the south starting Thursday, bringing thunderstorms nationwide from Friday to Sunday. The Central Weather Administration expects at least 200 to 300 millimeters of rain. Although reservoirs are set to gain, the general public should be wary of severe weather over the weekend.

梅雨鋒面襲台，帶來驚人豪雨，也讓水庫大解渴，其中曾文及烏山頭水庫灌最多，至少進帳2400萬噸，日月潭幾乎滿庫，滿到九蛙只剩一蛙，石門水庫有效蓄水率回升到33%，全台水庫進帳8189萬噸。
昨天雷雨狂炸，許多地區甚至出現淹水災情，這回鋒面帶來驚人豪雨，也讓水庫大解渴。

“整個降雨量大概下了8189萬噸，這樣的一個水量，那這個水量對水庫的幫忙很大，讓台灣地區主要的水庫，蓄水率都能夠提升到三成，那甚至在中部地區，有部分的水庫，它的蓄水率都高達九成以上”
曾文及烏山頭水庫灌最多，進帳2400萬噸，日月潭幾乎滿庫，滿到九蛙只剩一蛙，鯉魚潭、德基各有800萬噸進帳，全台水庫進帳8189萬噸，不過相較於中部、南部大進補，桃園石門水庫，這回雖然進帳360萬噸，有效蓄水率回升到33.1%，但此時正面臨農業用水需求量正大時，水利署持續進行節水管控。
遊艇業者慶幸，至少梅雨有下對地方，不無小補，石門水庫雖然今天風和日麗、降雨停歇，不過接下來，週四南方雲系北移，週五鋒面接近，全台雷雨籠罩到週日，氣象署預估至少帶來200到300毫米的雨量，水庫將持續大進補，民眾也得留意劇烈天氣。
