Microalgae protein extract proven to combat viruses

Microalgae have been called a green superfood of the 21st century thanks to its abundance of nutrients. A protein extract made from blue microalgae has now been clinically proven to inhibit a wide variety of viruses. It’s not only effective against COVID, but can also mitigate eight other major viruses including enterovirus and influenza, setting a new milestone in medicine.
Extract from green algae pools is rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals. It can be made into a health food on its own, but can also be added to lozenges, ice cream and other foods as a nutritional supplement.

We’ve given blue algae extract to some patients diagnosed with COVID-19. It seems to have helped reduce the number of feverish days and improved fatigue.
Clinical trials have shown that protein extract from blue microalgae can interfere with the adhesion of viruses onto host cells. It has a protective effect on the respiratory mucosa when taken orally or as a spray, able to inhibit enterovirus, influenza, herpes, Ebola and eight other viruses, even the one that causes COVID.

We’ve been researching microalgae for about 50 years now. In 1998, Taiwan had an enterovirus outbreak. We had just found out from a Harvard study that microalgae extract is effective against HIV. So we worked with Shih Shin-ru from Chang Gung University to do a series of cell and animal experiments with microalgae.

經過臨床試驗，從藍色微藻，抽出的蛋白萃取物，可以干擾病毒和宿主細胞黏合，透過口服或噴劑，在口腔呼吸道黏膜，形成保護作用，預防及抑制腸病毒、流感、皰疹、伊波拉等8大病毒，甚至能對新冠病毒，起到緩解作用。

“我們研究微藻已經有將近差不多50年了，1998的時候就發生，台灣有發生腸病毒的事情，剛好我們從哈佛大學的醫學研究報告就發覺，微藻抽出物居然對愛滋病毒有效，然後我們就跟長庚大學，那時候的施信如教授就共同研究，來做一個細胞跟動物的實驗，把微藻抽出物做了一系列(研究)。”
