Major carriers add Seattle flights in North American push

In the latest aviation news, major carriers are pushing to add Taipei-Seattle flights, as part of their North American expansion. Starlux Airlines plans to offer three roundtrip flights each week starting Aug. 15. EVA Air added three roundtrip services to its weekly schedule on June 25. China Airlines resumed its direct route last Sunday, landing in Seattle for the first time since 2008.

Our main consideration is convenience for passengers connecting from Southeast Asia to the U.S., or from the U.S. to Southeast Asia. At present, our transport capacity is still insufficient due to the size of our fleet, but once our new planes arrive, the first thing we’ll do is increase our flight frequencies.

Last year, Taiwan was the sixth-largest trading partner of the greater Seattle region and also the United States, with the total trade volume of US$3.8 billion. So with China Airlines’ resumption of flights, we think we can [have] more businessmen and tourists from Taiwan.

Seattle is the fourth-biggest destination for Taiwanese traveling to the U.S. With the addition of these flights, passengers will have a new point of entry besides San Francisco and Los Angeles, whether they’re arriving for tourism or to transfer to another flight.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport connects to over 50 major U.S. cities. To meet anticipated traveler demand, the airport has been busy with expansions and upgrades, ranging from new restrooms to wider access roads.

去年台灣到美國旅遊，達到34萬人次，不少航空公司看好北美航線商機，陸續佈局，長榮航空佈局最久，近期還季節性增班，達美宣布復航後、星宇也緊跟在後，華航則以時間帶差別，搶攻市場。

為了迎接更多旅客，西雅圖塔科馬國際機場，近年來積極改建擴增，從這裡可以接轉，超過50個美國內陸主要城市。
