Kaohsiung man saves lost license plates for neighbors after Typhoon Gaemi

As Taiwan recovers from the battering of Typhoon Gaemi, one man in Kaohsiung is being hailed as a “Good Samaritan.” Mr. Huang is a patron saint of vehicle license plates. The flooding in Kaohsiung has wrecked many cars, and lifted the license plates right off hundreds of vehicles. But Mr. Huang has noticed some of these plates lying by the road. He’s made it his business to pick them up and hand them in to the police, winning local admiration.

I picked up seven license plates the first day, and seven the second day. I was worried that if they stayed there, someone with ulterior motives might pick them up to use them. So I took them to the police station.
Typhoon Gaemi has wreaked havoc on Kaohsiung, where destruction emerged after the flooding. Many people’s cars were submerged and lots of license plates were lifted clean off vehicles. That’s resulted in online posts seeking lost license plates, with at least 100 from Kaohsiung alone. Mr. Huang has picked up 18.

Lots of people said thanks and some even gave me a reward. If I have time of course I’ll go out and look for them because there are still people who haven’t found their plates.
A new set of license plates only costs a few hundred dollars, but Mr. Huang’s neighborly actions have still saved people worry and hassle. After he took the time during a typhoon to take good care of their missing plates, no wonder he’s receiving so many thanks.

日前凱米颱風肆虐，大水退去後有許多車子的車牌不翼而飛，光高雄就有上百面車牌"離家出走"，民視獨家專訪到熱心的黃先生，他擔心這些掉落車牌被不肖分子拿去做壞事，決定冒雨撿車牌，幫忙送到警察局，一連撿了四天，共撿了18張車牌。
監視器拍下，一名民眾，穿著雨衣來派出所，手裡提著的塑膠袋裡面，裝著三面撿到的車牌。原來他是在左營工作的黃先生，下班騎車經過淹水最嚴重的區域，發現地上有許多車牌。

"第一天我是撿到了七張車牌，第二天也是撿到七張。怕那些車牌留在現場，會被有心人士拿去利用，所以幫那些掉落車牌的拿去派出所。"
凱米颱風狂炸高雄，大水退去後滿目瘡痍，許多車主的車子不但泡水，連車牌都不翼而飛，網路上出現大量的協尋車牌文章，光高雄地區就有上百面車牌"離家出走"，黃先生一個人就撿了18張。

"有很多(人跟我說謝謝)啊，甚至也給我獎金也有。如果有空當然一定會找，因為還是有人，還是沒找到自己的車牌。"
雖然補發車牌只要幾百元，但黃先生的善舉，幫不少車主省了麻煩，尤其他還是冒著颱風，在大雨中幫忙撿車牌，也難怪車牌失而復得的車主們都很感恩。
