TSMC held an earnings call on Thursday, reporting record-breaking profits. In 2024, TSMC made NT$2.89 trillion in consolidated sales and NT$1.17 trillion in net profit. Earnings per share stood at NT$45.25, a year-on-year increase of almost 40%, the highest ever for the company. The net profit margin stood at 59%, which was on the high end of projections.
The US question loomed large at the conference, amid President Joe Biden’s recent 3-tiered export control of advanced chips, and the impending Donald Trump presidency. TSMC CEO C. C. Wei assured investors the company is in close contact with both Biden and Trump’s teams. Following the earnings call, TSMC shares rose 3.76% and closed up at NT$1,105 per share. Taiwan shares gained 510 points, and closed up at 23,025 points.
