Activists urge Yehliu Ocean World to stop private dolphin breeding

Animal rights activists are calling for an end to dolphin breeding at Yehliu Ocean World. They say the park’s breeding program goes against global conservation trends to let animals be in nature. The park, however, says that its breeding program is legal, and that releasing captive animals would result in their death.
Animal rights activists shout out slogans loud and clear in the scorching summer heat. They are demanding Yehliu Ocean World will hear them to stop breeding dolphins privately in breach of current regulations.

The whole world is moving away from whale and dolphin performances. But still, Yehliu Ocean World is privately breeding dolphins. What for? Everyone should be aware of this.

Regarding the “illegal” breeding incident of 2024, we had applied for permission and permission was granted. So the allegations are false.
Two venues in Taiwan still hold shows with whales and dolphins. Last year, regulations were tightened, with a ban on the shows to take effect in 2026. Last year, Yehliu Ocean Park modified its circus-like performances into an educational program. No matter how, the dolphins at the aquarium can’t be released into the wild, as they do not possess the necessary survival skills.

Many dolphins were captured in the wild and kept in captivity. They can be trapped in this horrible artificial environment for 37 years, causing them a lot of physical and mental suffering.

We deeply care for animals. We spend a lot of money every month on food, biochemical tests and other resources. We hope that our animals can live a long time, and live better lives.
With activists saying one thing, and the park responding another, changes seem unlikely.

齊聚野柳海洋世界 動保團體:勿再私自繁殖海豚

一群動保團體成員，今天齊聚野柳海洋世界，向館方發出怒吼，要求他們不要再私自繁殖海豚。因為現在停止鯨豚表演，讓牠們回歸大自然，是國際上的趨勢，而野柳海洋公園的舉動，明顯和國際背道而馳。對此，館方回應，繁殖部分牠們是經過合法申請，而回歸大自然，等同於讓動物死亡。
口號喊得震天響，眼前這群動保團體成員，頂著高溫，聚集在野柳海洋世界外發出怒吼，希望野柳海洋世界聽到他們的聲音，不要在法規沒有允許的情況下，私自繁殖海豚。

“現在全世界都在針對鯨豚的展演，逐漸開始退場跟轉型，在這樣的情況之下，野柳依然是私自繁殖小海豚，那到底他的居心到底是什麼，我相信這個大家應該都心知肚明”

國內有鯨豚展演的遊樂園只剩二間，加上去年法規轉嚴，訂定與人互動的鯨豚展演，必須在2026年走入歷史。野柳海洋公園從去年開始，已經從動物馬戲團式的表演，轉型成生態解說，但仍舊無法將動物野放，因為他們不具備獨立生存能力。

“很多的海豚在早期的時候，有可能他是被野外捕抓，然後一旦被圈養在這樣子一個人工的環境下，他們其實可能會長達就是37年，都在這樣子惡劣的環境裡面，然後飽受很多的身心的痛苦”

“我們秉持愛護動物的精神，每個月都會給予龐大的經費，不管是餌料還有生化檢驗，一些其他的資源挹注，那就是希望我們的動物可以長長久久，可以活得更好”
