
Tokyo’s 140-old culinary gem, Ginza Tenkuni, is making its much-anticipated overseas debut with an exclusive 4-day pop-up in Taiwan from Aug. 19 to 22. The establishment is renowned for its delicate tempura, which will be fried at a bar counter for all to see. Let’s hear more.

I was shocked at how fast the bookings filled up, which goes to show how deeply Taiwan understands tempura and its cultural significance. The bar counter bookings were very popular. We usually have long lines at the shop every day. I’m thrilled, and I hope everyone will like it.
The delicacies include fish coated in a lacey layer of batter. Fried at the right temperature, an elegant fish tempura is ready in just one minute. The fifth-generation owner of the eatery says she deeply values the Taiwan market. With a century-old secret sauce, and craftsmanship passed down through generation, the pop-up is sure to be a hit.
