Taiwanese importers in Texas for business matchmaking event

To expand business cooperation between Taiwan and the US, TAITRA for the first time held its annual US Business Day event in the US. Thirty Taiwanese importers— including Kuai Kuai, Kanpai, Wah Lee Industrial, and Everlight Chemical—met with 55 US suppliers for over 100 face-to-face meetings. As Taiwan looks to balance trade with the US, TAITRA said Taiwan must first extend goodwill and create a mutually beneficial model for bilateral trade between the countries.

Thirty Taiwanese importers gather to meet with 55 suppliers from the US in this massive business event organized by TAITRA. It’s the first time US Business Day is being held in the US. Even Taiwan’s favorite snack brand, Kuai Kuai, made an appearance.

Apart from finding some suitable suppliers, we’re also here to promote Kuai Kuai. There’s actually no limit, because we don’t just partner with snack food suppliers. We don’t set any limits on what kind of cooperation we might have.

Other Taiwanese enterprises like Wah Lee, Everlight Chemical, and Kanpai are seeking purchase agreements with American processed food, biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, electrical, and electronic component firms in search of industrial breakthroughs. Heavyweights like North America’s largest dehydrated potato supplier, a boutique coffee brand, and a sterilization system maker were all in attendance.

I think this is a great initiative to start connecting the folks in Asia very closely to folks that are manufacturing in the US. We have been working with Taiwanese companies for the last 50 years. It’s a very long-term relationship that we have had with our Taiwanese partners, and we only see that growing and becoming bigger going forward.

Unlike past years when US buyers came to meet with Taiwanese suppliers, this time, Taiwanese firms are actively placing orders with US suppliers to demonstrate their sincerity in cooperating with efforts to balance the bilateral trade relationship, as urged by President Trump.

In the future, we’ll also invite overseas suppliers to come to Taiwan for negotiations with our domestic buyers. This is complete, two-way matchmaking between suppliers and purchasers.

Shifting purchasing strategies can help avoid tariff barriers and take advantage of Taiwan’s trade imbalance with the US to create a win-win situation for both sides.

貿協首辦"美國商機日" 30家台灣進口商齊聚德州

外貿協會為了加大台美商貿合作關係,首次在美舉辦美國商機日,集結乖乖、乾杯、華立企業、永光化學等30家台灣進口商與美國55家供應商,面對面進行超過百場洽商,在美國政府的平衡貿易主張下,貿協強調,台灣要先釋出善意,打造台美貿易互惠互利模式。

大型洽商現場,聚集30家台灣進口商,與55家美國供應商,貿協首次在美舉辦的美國商機日,連台灣國民食品大廠乖乖也來了。

“除了想要找到一些,適合的供應商之外,其實主要也是想要推廣乖乖,其實就是不設限啦,因為其實我們配對到,也不只是食品的供應商,那其實就是沒有設限說,一定要大家要怎麼樣的合作模式”

華立企業、永光化學、乾杯集團等台灣企業,以美國加工食品、生技醫藥、化工、電機能源及電子零組件為採購重點,尋產業轉型破口。北美最大脫水馬鈴薯供應商、精品咖啡品牌,以及美國殺菌系統公司等重量級企業,都在參與名單中。

有別以往邀請美方買主來台採購,這次台灣企業化被動為主動,先跟美國下單,要在川普主張的平衡貿易下,先展現十足合作誠意。
