The president honored three youth teams who’ve recently brought home international titles. He handed out griddle cakes, and Taiwan-branded towels and even announced a special postal surprise.

As the president, and a baseball lover, I am honored to welcome you here on behalf of our country. To be honest, I’m even more excited than you. To commemorate this special occasion, I have asked Chunghwa Post to issue commemorative stamps and booklets. How’s that!

Even though we played in our opponent’s home turf, we used all our strength to win the title.

I would like to thank all my teammates. Without them, we wouldn’t have become world champions.
Chiang Chin-cheng
U-15 Team Taiwan captain
It only really hit us when we stood on the podium and heard everyone’s applause. We did it. We brought honor to our country.
Taiwan will inaugurate its Ministry of Sports on Sept. 9, to better support athletes.
Lai Ching-te
President
The first Minister of Sports is going to be Lee Yang, a two-time Olympic gold medalist. The ministry is being created for the benefit of our athletes, to show that their country stands behind them.

We have a baseball dad here in Taiwan, that’s President Lai Ching-te. He cheers for us and gives us a lot of resources. He always gives it his all and makes sure we get whatever our athletes need.
The young players gifted Lai a gigantic autographed baseball, while Lai gave them towels with the word “Taiwan.” The countries youth players have once again brought international trophies back home, letting the whole world see Taiwan.
