A pastry shop in Taichung has held a 3-day charity sale to raise funds for the victims of Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court fire. At the shop, one customer was seen loading up a full basket. Turns out he’s a long-term resident from Tai Po, where the fire occurred. The store manager said that it was only natural to do what they could, as it had a large Hong Kong customer base.

Staff at this pastry shop are busy restocking, while a customer loads up his shopping basket. This shop in Taichung held a three-day charity sale, with all profits going to disaster relief for the Wan Fuk Court fire in Hong Kong. Turns out this customer with a large haul is from Hong Kong himself.

I read about the fire in Hong Kong on the newspaper, so I’ve come to support the campaign. I’m also a Hong Konger. I’ve lived here for a long time now.

The man had lived in Taiwan for 10 years now, and was born in Tai Po, where the fire took place. He said that although he didn’t have much to give to his hometown, he still did what he could. There were also many Taiwanese customers.

The boss was heartbroken when she found out about the disaster in Hong Kong. We had a shop in Hong Kong before, so we have lots of Hong Kong customers. That’s why she wanted to do her part for Hong Kong.

A banner reading “Bless Tai Po, Bless Hong Kong” has also been put up on storefront. The store says they did not hesitate to help when news came out of the fire, since they also had connections with Hong Kong. They also said seeing news of the fire was like seeing an old friend get hurt, and so they’re doing what they can to help.
